About Tahi Opu

A global team unified by one mission — to combat IUU fishing and restore biodiversity across 70% of the earth's surface.

What happens out in the ocean, especially in small island developing states, is often shrouded in mystery.

Tahi Opu prides itself on using deep research to apply a holistic approach to complex fisheries and protection issues, employing investigative research techniques, traditional and cutting edge technology to understand and combat the real problems affecting the recovery of ecosystems.

We look at all aspects of a system from artisanal fishers to the sensitivities of international relations. Tahi Opu turns active ocean protection into a tool for positive international co-operation.

Born in Timor-Leste, we are taking the 'Tahi Opu' spirit - 'the guardians of the sea' - out to the world.
